When we first heard of her, she was working for Coors as their professional lesbian, promoting beer in spite of the Coors family's vehement attacks on the gay community. So she must feel pretty much at home as the Republican lesbian step-child.
It's disingenuous to suggest that the Democratic party is using her lesbianism. She and her partner, Heather Poe, were seen together at the Republican National Convention (although they were missing after daddy's speech). They were together again at the Vice-Presidential Debate. Even more absurd is this auditory vacuum we are getting from Mary herself. One assumes, at 35, she's old enough to know when she feels attacked and smart enough to say so.
So let's get to the bottom line. Mary Cheney stands firmly with her family of origin. As far as I can tell she acknowledges no ties to the LGBT community since she's no longer pushing beer. And she sure wants to be on the good side of mom and dad when it's time to make out the will--her portion of the Halliburton fortune will buy her all the friends she needs.
